Matt and Rebecca met the old fashioned way: on a dating app that lets you swipe yes or no. They both swiped yes. Well, sort of! While out to lunch with some work friends, Rebecca and her friends were going through a dating app on her phone and came across Matt. They all agreed she should swipe yes…. and it was a match. Their first date was on a whim after Matt asked Rebecca her 4th of July plans and she casually asked if he would like to join her with her friend at Epcot. To Rebecca’s surprise, he said yes! When they picked him up he was wearing a red shirt with blue blazer covers in stars, in Florida’s summer heat, and she knew he was going to be a lot of fun!
Two and a half years, and many fun memories later, Matt planned an intimate engagement during his family’s yearly winter vacation. While they waited for the rest of the family to arrive, Matt asked Rebecca to join him in the other room. She went over to the room where Matt was, saw this beautiful set up of macaroons and champagne, and naturally she went straight for a macaroon. As she took a bite, Matt asked her to please put that down because he had something to ask her. The next thing Rebecca knew, Matt was kneeling on one knee asking her to marry him and if she would be his adventure buddy for life (a reference to Disney’s Up). Of course, she said YES!
Their Wedding
Naturally the wedding had to include the movie “Up” and macaroons after Matt’s romantic proposal! Rebecca and Matt took the travel theme from the movie “Up” and vintage feel from the inside of the Up house as their wedding inspiration. Using a lot of neutrals with pops of color in the flowers, along with vintage books and luggage, bought the theme to life. It had a whimsical, garden, vintage feel with touches of travel inspiration. Rebecca is a floral designer for Disney so when it came time for her own wedding you know flowers would play a big part. And boy were they beautiful! Made by a new floral company formed after several Disney furloughed floral designers joined forces to bring their creative juices and share with the rest of the world with their new company Roots Floral Studio 4! Along with a traditional wedding cake, they included a few macaroon “cakes” to tie together their engagement with their wedding day. It was a beautiful day filled with so much love and we were so blessed to get to spend the day with Rebecca and Matt! Congratulations you two!!
